Farheen Zehra
My name is Farheen Zehra. I am originally from Pakistan, but have currently been residing in Japan for the last several years. I came to Japan to continue my studies, and now I am an English teacher. In addition, I am also participating in various intercultural/cross-cultural communication programs all over Japan. I believe that cross-cultural communication, and having an understanding of different cultures, is particularly vital in the modern world. Cultural diversity, humility and communication are the three main pillars to be discussed during my Workshop.
Pakistan is a mix of different cultures. Our people make a variety of handicrafts including handbags, footwear and clothing that are worn during wedding ceremonies, birthday parties and festivals to show the culture of their tribe. I want to share the hidden beauty of my country’s culture, which represents four different provinces. Each is unique in their language, clothing, festivals, lifestyles and its natural beauty. I am from the southern part of Pakistan, and my hometown is famous for its spicy food, hospitality and its historical buildings. I am excited to share our traditions with you, and particularly our foods, as I believe that so much of a culture is reflected in its cuisine.
